Obituary of Ryan P. Doherty

Ryan P. Doherty, 32, of Wellington, FL passed away peacefully, in Melbourne, FL surrounded by his family.

Born in Hartford, he was the son of Elizabeth (Hoar) Doherty and the late Philip J. Doherty. Ryan was a 2005 graduate of St. Bernard High School and attended Franklin Pierce University for several years. He was a former Granby and Old Lyme resident, moving to Florida 10 years ago. Ryan found his passion for the Equestrian Industry several years ago and pursued that passion all over the United States while joining the International Organization in Wellington Florida. He also had a love for people and a desire to help others. Life saving research and anatomical donation was very important to Ryan. In his memory, please consider giving the ultimate gift of anatomical donation. Please remember Ryan's positive attitude and love of life, and remember to share that attitude with all those you come in contact with.  

In addition to his mother, Ryan is survived by his three brothers, Michael Doherty of FL, Michael Spear of FL, Joseph Doherty and his wife Nadine of Goshen, his two sisters, Marti Williams and her husband Tom of Glastonbury, and Frannie Doherty, also of Glastonbury, his mother Elizabeth’s fiancé Robert Cunetta of FL, five aunts, Jackie Lovett and her husband Joe of Marlborough, Margaret “Meg” Eck and her husband Mike of Indiana, Ann Adams of Woodstock, Marilyn Emery and her husband Keith of MD, Pat Hinnebusch and her husband Michael, who are also his Godparents, of Idaho, his uncle Paul Hoar and his wife Kathy of Glastonbury, many nieces, nephew and cousins, his very special friends, Scott Yeomans of Windsor, Tom Carlson of FL, Ben Simkins of TN and FL, and DJ Ferrari of Old Saybrook.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 11:00 am at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday evening from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and also Tuesday morning from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to the Equestrian Aid Foundation, 11924 W Forest Hill Blvd #10A-377, Wellington, FL 33414.
