Obituary of Ricardo A. Herrera

Ricardo A. Herrera, 44, of Wethersfield, beloved husband of Jessica (Rivera) Herrera, died January 25, 2019.  Born October 27, 1974 in Cali, Colombia, son of Antonio and Marleny (Charry) Herrera of Hartford, he had lived in Wethersfield for the past 20 years.  Ricardo graduated from UCONN and dedicated his professional career towards developing young people from the community he grew up in through mentoring and academic support and was an Executive Director for over 20 years. He spent the last 6 years as  Executive Director of Ascend Mentoring along the same line of work. Besides his wife and parents he is survived by his 2 daughters Arelis C. Herrera and Maya G. Herrera both at home, a sister Adriana Hilerio and her husband Abel Hilerio of Hartford, his father-in-law Ernesto Rivera, Sr. of Manchester, his mother-in-law Eneida Sanchez of West Hartford,  his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Leo Negron of West Hartford, Pedro Rivera of Wethersfield, Ernesto Jr. and Jeannie  Rivera of Plymouth, Melissa and Derrick Molden of Manchester, Taina Ramirez of Norwich and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday Feb. 2 at 10:30am in the Asylum Hill Congregational Church, 814 Asylum Ave., Hartford. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Friday Feb. 1 from 4-7pm.
