In the words of Emily Dickinson:
Because I could not stop for Death (479)
Emily Dickinson, 1830 - 1886
Because I could not stop for Death –
He kindly stopped for me –
The Carriage held but just Ourselves –
And Immortality.
We slowly drove – He knew no haste
And I had put away
My labor and my leisure too,
For His Civility –
We passed the School, where Children strove
At Recess – in the Ring –
We passed the Fields of Gazing Grain –
We passed the Setting Sun –
Or rather – He passed us –
The Dews drew quivering and chill –
For only Gossamer, my Gown –
My Tippet – only Tulle –
We paused before a House that seemed
A Swelling of the Ground –
The Roof was scarcely visible –
The Cornice – in the Ground –
Since then – ‘tis Centuries – and yet
Feels shorter than the Day
I first surmised the Horses’ Heads
Were toward Eternity –

My heart is with your family as you morn the passing of your mom, mother-in-law, and grandmother. I have always had a special place in my heart for “Mrs. Saglio”, as growing up she felt like a second mom to me. Her fun loving spirit and great sense of humor made being with her a joy. I am honored to have traveled with her, eventhough just for a small portion of her life’s journey , as it truly was a life well lived. Wishing you all comfort in knowing others care, and found peace in your beautiful memories.

Dear Clara - I was so looking forward to seeing you in July when I come up for a visit......but you slipped away before I could get there. I'll miss seeing you, but you can be sure that Bebe and Fred and I will drink some wine and tell some stories on you and laugh a lot......you would like that, I know. Well, friend, good-bye and here's wishing you "Godspeed" on your new adventure.
Love,
Pat Eller

Jeff and I send our deepest sympathy. Clara was a lovely lady - devoted to her family, her friends, her Christian faith and her community at Buckingham UCC. She lived life to its fullest, served others with commitment and was a role model for all who knew her. Her legacy continues in her wonderful family and all she touched with her grace and generosity.
