Obituary of Everett C. Gates

Everett C. Gates, 85, of Glastonbury, beloved husband of Betty (Lieser) Gates, died Friday June 15, 2018 at Marlborough Health Care Center. Born September 2, 1932 in Manchester, son of the late Francis and Ina (Buck) Gates, he was a lifelong resident of Glastonbury. Prior to his retirement he worked for the town of Glastonbury as a heavy equipment operator for 39 years. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Besides his wife he is survived by his daughter Bonnie Madel and her husband Michael of Colchester, his son Larry Gates of Somers, sister-in-law Ann Johnson of Chaplin, 2 brothers-in-law Carleton Lieser of Wallingford and Lee Johnson of Chaplin and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his brother George Gates. A memorial service will be held Saturday June 23 at 12 noon at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury, followed by military honors.
