Obituary of Clarence "Pat" Forrest Norton

Clarence “Pat” Norton, June 10, 1924 – May 4, 2018, passed into the light on Friday, May 4, 2018 peacefully at home with his daughter by his side.  Born in Berlin, NH, Pat grew up an only child in Maine and New Hampshire.  He moved to Connecticut with his parents when he was around 12.  He attended Hartford Public High School and went on to serve in World War II.  He was stationed around the world including Italy and Africa.  He attended Trinity College on the GI Bill and married Irene Clay on August 16, 1947.  They moved to Glastonbury to Arrowhead Drive in 1956 where they raised 4 children, a host of dogs, cats, rabbits, birds and whatever else the kids brought home.  Pat remained on Arrowhead Drive for 64 years until his passing.  He was a member of First Church of Christ Congregational, Masonic Home, Columbia Lodge and Glastonbury Community Center.  After their retirement, Pat and Irene traveled extensively on 3 cross country trips including Canada and England.  He was an avid gardener, loved nature and all animals, was a history buff and a student of genealogy.  He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years when she passed in May 2010.  He leaves behind his 4 children, Steven Norton and wife Judy of Concord, CA, Ronald Norton of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, David Norton of Eaton, NH and Jane Walsh of Glastonbury and his former son-in-law Brian Walsh of New Britain.  He also leaves 5 grandchildren, Sarah, Shannon and husband Andrew, Erin, Laura and husband Reid, Brian and wife Celia, 5 great grandchildren, a sister-in-law Winnie Clay, a niece Sheri Clay and his beloved dog Skye.  Funeral Service will be on Monday, May 21 at 12 noon in Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury.  Calling hours will be prior to the service, from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon.  Burial will be private.
