Obituary of Shirley T. Fuller

Shirley Tryon Fuller, 93, loving wife of the late Linwood Fuller and life-long resident of Glastonbury, died Saturday April 28, 2018 at Avery Heights, surrounded by her family that loved her.  She was born August 7, 1924 the daughter of the late Hilda and Raymond Tryon. Shirley was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Glastonbury Federated Women’s Club and was a girl scout leader. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, where she taught Sunday School, she served on their Vestry and was a member of the Altar Guild for over 60 years. A graduate of Glastonbury High School class of 1942, she played semi-pro basketball for several years. Shirley held several secretarial positions during her career with the Civil Service Center, the Army Airforce, the Navy Redistribution and Disposal Center, the Federal Housing Authority and Carrier-Ripley Insurance in Glastonbury. After 10 years of service she retired in 1988 from the CT Pharmaceutical Association as administrative assistant to the Executive Director. Shirley loved being with her many friends and especially her dear family; her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in CT and summers in Shady Harbor, RI. She is survived by her daughter Cherie Cooper of Hebron, her son and daughter-in-law Robert and Sharon Fuller of Manchester, 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother George Tryon of Glastonbury, 3 sisters, Dorothy Devereaux of Glastonbury, Helen Taylor of Portland and Frances Barker of Glastonbury. She was predeceased by her son Scott Fuller, 2 brothers Warren and Donald Tryon. Funeral service will be Saturday May 5 at 10am in St. James Episcopal Church, 2584 Main St., Glastonbury. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Glastonbury. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Shirley’s memory to St. James Episcopal Church, 2584 Main St., Glastonbury, 06033.
