Obituary of Roger R. Lapointe

Roger R Lapointe, 91, of Greer, SC, passed away March 28, 2018 at Greenville Place Memory Care, surrounded by loving family members and the dedicated staff. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Jacqueline O. Lapointe, also of Greer, SC. Born December 31, 1926, in Lewiston, Maine, to Ernest and Alice (Morin) Lapointe, he was raised in the “Frog Hollow” section of Hartford, CT. He was a long time resident of both Hartford and Glastonbury, before moving to Greer, SC,15 years ago.

Roger retired from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft after 43 years as a draftsman and graphic artist. In his retirement years, he enjoyed part time work for Society for Savings bank and as a salesman in the mens department at Sears, in Manchester, CT. While living in Glastonbury, Roger was a member of St. Dunstan Catholic Church, where he sang in the choir, was a lector and an usher. His love of singing drew him to become a member of the Manchester Silk City Chorus. After moving to Greer, SC, he enjoyed time spent at Senior Action of Greenville, where he renewed his passion for art and watercolor painting. Roger left an extensive portfolio of paintings for his family to cherish. Roger was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Taylors, SC, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a Catholic War Veteran. He had proudly served our country in the US Air Force. He is also survived by a son, Jean Paul Lapointe of Cromwell, CT; 3 daughters, Suzanne Harris of Taylors, SC; Marie (Joel) Karnolt of Manchester, CT; Lynn (John) Price of Cumming, GA; and a daughter-in-law Darlene Lapointe of Taylors, SC. He was predeceased by a son, Thomas M Lapointe, his parents and a brother, Normand Lapointe, of Windsor, CT. He also leaves a legacy of many grandchildren and great grandchildren. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, May 5, 2018 at St. Dunstan Church, 1345 Manchester Rd., Glastonbury, CT; followed by a burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Wickham Rd, Glastonbury, CT. Family and friends are invited to call Friday May 4, 2018, from 4-7 pm, at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury, Ct. Roger will always be remembered as a man who loved his family, loved his art, music and dancing. He was sweet, quiet, a true gentle-man with just a perfect amount of “frisky” mixed in!
