Obituary of Marjorie Josephine Korwin

Josephine ( Keefe ) Korwin, 89, passed into eternal life peacefully at home in Glastonbury surrounded by family on Sunday, January 14, 2018.  She was the wife of the late John R. Korwin.  She was born May 30, 1928 in Willimantic, Connecticut, the daughter of late Maurice J. Keefe and Marjorie Porter ( Hough ) of Hebron.

Josephine graduated from Willimantic State Teachers College and joined the Manchester Board of Education and taught at Buckley School in Manchester for 38 years.  She was a dedicated teacher and enjoyed her students.  Josephine was a devoted, loving and caring mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister and friend.  She will be dearly missed.

Throughout her life she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  She was involved in her community and devoted to volunteer work including the Intercommunity Common Ground Program in East Hartford.  Josephine enjoyed baking apple pies for the Glastonbury Apple Fest.  Josephine was a member of the Woman’s Business and Professional Club and Federated Woman’s Club in Glastonbury.  Josephine favorite pastimes were creating flower arrangements, gardening, walking, reading, fashion, shopping, Goodspeed Opera House, birdwatching, arts and crafts and going to tag-sales looking for treasures.  Josephine’s most precious moments were spent with her family, being surrounded by their laughter and teasing at her parties, holiday gatherings and trips to Newport with her family.

Josephine leaves behind to cherish her memory, three loving sons, Kim Sadlon and his wife Camille and Dennis Jay Sadlon both of Glastonbury, Kurt Sadlon and his wife Lisa of New Palestine, Indiana.  Grandchildren Laura, her husband Paul Litewka and son Alister, Patrick, Megan, Joshua and Katie Sadlon.  Her sister Louise McFerron of Pittsburgh, PA.  Her brother’s Richard Keefe and his wife Linda of Fort Myers, Fl., Darrel Keefe and his wife Marlene of Hebron, Ct. and many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by her brother’s Arthur Keefe and Dennis Keefe of Hebron, Ct.  We appreciate and thank daughter-in-law Camille and the special care-givers for their compassion and kindness.  We thank the Glastonbury Volunteer Ambulance and Glastonbury Police Department for their service.  Josephine will be buried this spring next to her husband John and her parents at the Old Hebron Cemetery, behind St Peter’s Episcopal Church in Hebron.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Josephine’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, CT Chapter, 200 Executive Boulevard, Suite 4B Southington, CT 06489-1058.
