Obituary of Magdalene Majek Carreira

Magdalene “Lena” (Majek) Carreira, 80, of Lebanon, beloved wife of George Carreira, died Saturday January 30, 2016 at Manchester Memorial Hospital. She was born August 5, 1935 in London, England, daughter of the late Robert and Agnes (Kelly) Brennan, she came to the United States in 1956 and had lived in Glastonbury until moving to Lebanon 16 years ago. Lena was a past president of the Federated Women’s Club of Glastonbury and a member for over 57 years . She was an original member of a card playing group for 40 years that played once a week. She was an avid reader, enjoyed painting, arts and crafts rooted for the Red Sox, enjoyed going to Cape Cod and England and loved her pictures that decorated all the space on her walls. Besides her husband of 29 years she is survived by a daughter Theresa Cole and her husband Steven of East Hartford, 2 sons, Nicholas Majek, II of Bismark, SD, Robert Majek of East Hartford, 2 step sons, William Carreira and his wife Celia of Glastonbury, Peter Carreira and his wife Dawn of Hebron, and 5 grandchildren, Christopher Cole, Stephanie Cole, Megan Carreira, Michael Carreira and Nicholas Majek, III. and "Cat". She was predeceased by 2 brothers and a sister, Jack Fallon, Theresa Tubridy, Robert Brennan, a daughter-in-law Bambi Majek and a step son Thomas Carreira. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Wednesday Feb. 3 from 10am to 12 noon. A short prayer service will follow at noon.
