Obituary of Thaddeus J. Zavalick

Thaddeus J. Zavalick (Ted), 89, of Glastonbury CT,  passed away at Hartford Hospital surrounded by his family on Monday, July 3, 2023. He was the beloved husband of the late Kay Frances (Manning) Zavalick.

Born in Simsbury, he was the son of the late Agnes (Tutla) and Stanley Zavalick. Ted graduated from Simsbury High School in 1951.  Soon after high school he enlisted in the Navy and served 4 years on board a Destroyer Forrest B Royal DD872.  Upon his discharge he pursued a career in Accounting from Morse Business School in Hartford CT. He was employed by Pioneer Steel Ball Company in Unionville, CT, as Executive Vice President, until his retirement in 1996.   He and his wife, Kay, of 53 years, finally settled in their home on Cape Cod.  Together they leave a legacy of volunteer work for numerous organizations, churches and charities throughout their lives. He was at peace knowing he’d be reunited with his beautiful bride again soon.

Ted leaves a wonderful family which include his daughter Sharon K. Conway and his son John M. Zavalick both of Glastonbury CT and his daughter Betsy J. Frates of Quechee, Vermont;  9 grandchildren Bryan Frates, Crystal McNeil, Whitney Hussein,  CJ Frates, Tara Woodruff, Leah McArdle, Chase Conway, Zach Zavalick, Maddy Zavalick and 9 great grandchildren.

Ted is predeceased by his sister Lois Plona, and two brothers Watson and Walter Zavalick.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at the First Church of Christ Congregational, 2183 Main St., Glastonbury, CT at 11:00. A luncheon will follow at a place in Glastonbury to be shared at memorial service.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
