Obituary of Hilda G. Ureta

Hilda G. Ureta, 91, of Glastonbury passed away hearing classical piano music while surrounded by family on February 11, 2026.  She was the beloved wife of her predeceased husband Crisostomo C. Ureta who died on August 21, 2025.  She is survived by her son Edward and daughter-in-law Jennifer Ureta of Glastonbury, her grandchildren Zachary and Isabelle Ureta.  Hilda was predeceased by her brothers Antonio and Clarito Garces.

Born in the Philippines, she was the daughter of the late Soledad (Lezarda) and Nicasio Garces.  She established a new home and fostered a loving environment in NJ and later  CT.  She was a court clerk in the municipal court in NJ.   Hilda was a high school PE teacher in the Philippines teaching traditional folk dance.  She carried the cultural tradition in the US by collaborating with others to establish the Philippine American Cultural School at Seton Hall University in South Orange NJ where she taught teenagers to learn about and perform the Filipino folk dances.  She was an accomplished pianist of classical music and taught many students to play the piano. 

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday February 19, 2026 at 11:00am at SS Isidore and Maria Parish at St. Paul Church, 2577 Main St. Glastonbury.  Entombment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.  Friends may call on Thursday morning from 9:30am to 10:30am at Mulryan Funeral Home 725 Hebron Ave. Glastonbury.  For online condolences please visit www. mulryanfh.com
