Larry Zimmerman posted a condolence

Sandy was part of our poetry group (many years ago) that usually met every week at the Eastern CT. College Library. We also made visitations to other venues. Sandy's poems were always new and interesting. Her signature poem "My Daughter is a Drummer in a Rock and Roll Band" was recited so many times that I almost knew it by heart, but I never got tired of listening to it. One night, her husband came with her and played music to some of her poems. The critique of the group's poems was always honest, worthy, and different, always looking for the best features while never criticizing and overlooking the occasional flaws. The Obit. stated she always brought grace, love, and a sense of humor (to all of us). So true, so true, so true.
Larry Zimmerman, Hebron Poet Laureate.

Back around 1995 Sandy approved a grant to help a fledgling group, Hartford Friends and Enemies of Wallace Stevens, get organized. I will always be grateful for her generosity. It has been my great pleasure to know Sandy and hear her read her poetry as Glastonbury’s Poet Laureate. My condolences to her family.

Sandy was a fixture in my oldest daughter’s life. Debbie and Lauren are still best friends due to being part of the inclusive life of the Sergios home (s). David played the piano at Debbie’s wedding. The family meant everything to them and also to us. Sandy will be missed but her gifts to the communities she served and the family she loved will be forever celebrated. You are now at peace.

I remember "Miss Bain" at Rocky Hill High School, English class so well. Her thick, very black short hair, and black rimmed glasses. She "corrected" me once on my English and I still remember it well. Well done, Miss Bain. Sixty-six years have passed so quickly, and thank God we had them. My deepest condolences to the Sergio family. Enjoy your memories.
