Celebration of Life
Obituary of Ewald F. Dickau
Ewald Dickau, 89, having recently moved to Ayer, MA from West Hartford, CT, was called to his eternal home October 7, passing peacefully in his sleep with his sons Perry and Marty by his side.
Ewald was born in the village of Somsiory, county of Rippin, West Prussia in 1936. At the end of WWII his family was resettled in Nordholz in western Germany, where he met his future wife, Helga. He emigrated to the United States in 1955 and convinced Helga to visit in 1958. She stayed, and they married in 1961 and had two sons.
Ever the entrepreneur and problem-solver, Ewald is best known professionally for Synchron Inc., the adhesives dispensing and curing business he started and ran for the past 25 years. He also founded and ran a precision machining and manufacturing business at the same time. Prior to having these businesses, Ewald managed a group at Loctite Corp. responsible for developing and producing adhesives dispensing equipment. He was inventor on seven patents during his time there.
Ewald was a devout Christian and a keen student of the Bible. He served in various leadership capacities in the churches to which he belonged and especially enjoyed preparing and leading Bible studies. He was also a voracious reader, with a particular interest in politics and history.
Ewald is pre-deceased by his wife Helga and brother Siegfried. He is survived by his sons Marty (Ellen) and Perry (Katrine), his grandsons Erich and Bergen, his brother Leonhard and sister-in-law Jutta, their children Alexander and Sebastian, and his sister-in-law Sheren and her children Dan and Tracey (Ryan) and grandniece Toni.
