Funeral Mass
Obituary of Marilyn Monaco
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Marilyn Monaco, who died peacefully at home on August 18, 2025 surrounded by her family, at the age of 84 after a long and courageous battle with dementia. A fighter in every sense, Marilyn also triumphed over breast cancer twice, facing each challenge in life with strength and grace.
Born on February 8, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York, Marilyn was the cherished daughter of the late Andrew and Philomena Monaco. She was predeceased by her loving brother, Lewis Monaco, and her sister-in-law, Helene Monaco.
Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Tine of Berlin; her son, Ed Jowdy of Rocky Hill; and her daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Harry Mott of South Glastonbury. She was the proud grandmother of five amazing grandchildren—Haley, Jaime, Olivia, Ethan, and Ava—and the loving “grand-dog” Bruno.
Throughout Marilyn’s life, she was blessed with treasured friendships, none more steadfast than her dear friend Dottie, whose devotion and companionship brought comfort and joy, especially in her later years. The family also extends heartfelt gratitude to Marilyn’s caretaker, Elizabeth, for her kindness, compassion, and gentle care.
A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 10:00 am at SS. Isidore and Maria Parish in St. Paul Church, 2577 Main Street, Glastonbury, CT. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Breast Friends Fund (https://breastfriendsfund.org ) and/or Alzheimer’s Association (https://www.alz.org ) in Marilyn’s memory.
