I was introduced to Cheryl not too long after I met my partner Kailee, Cheryl's grand daughter. I remember how her face lit up, that contagious smile, her hugs, and her kindness. I did not sign, but that did not stop Cheryl and I from finding ways of communicating through writing, facial expressions, and smiles. We bonded over the love of her family. At gatherings, Cheryl was easy to dote on as she was energetic, silly, and a brilliant bright presence in the room. I will always remember her for pointing at Kailee and I when we were all together, crossing her chest while signing "love" and smiling widely. I love Cheryl, and felt her love powerfully. I'll carry that with me in a special spot, in my heart, reserved just for her. I miss her hard and stand with all who know and love her.
