Obituary of Matthew James Kronk
Matthew James Kronk, 43, of Glastonbury, Connecticut passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, February 24, 2025.
Born in Bristol, Connecticut he was the beloved son of Drew and Patricia (Jackmore) Kronk. Matt grew up in Glastonbury, graduated from Glastonbury High School and went on to study visual arts at Savannah College of Art and Design. Matt was a kind, gentle, compassionate and giving person who loved his family deeply. He was an artist, musician and writer. Matt spent his time immersed in the creative process and was an avid reader. He loved playing classic rock on his Fender guitar and writing his own music. Matt enjoyed going to concerts, especially the Phish festival with his sister. He was environmentally conscious and often shared information about nature and science. Matt loved the great outdoors especially at his grandparents’ home on Lake Umbagog, canoeing, hiking and swimming. He grew up spending summers on the Cape, riding the waves of Marconi Beach and creating epic sand sculptures. Winters were spent on the slopes of Okemo skiing with his family and friends. As a child he discovered a love of sports, his favorite teams were the Boston Red Sox and Celtics as well as watching International Tennis. He enjoyed hearing about his nephew and nieces’ activities and talking with his family daily.
In addition to his parents, Matthew is survived by his sister Kate Ericson and her husband Blaine, their son Jackson and daughters Peyton and Rory.
All are welcome to a celebration of life being held on Saturday March 22nd at 11AM at the Congregational Church in South Glastonbury. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Friends of Cape Cod National Seashore (FCCNS) or New Britian Museum of American Art. The spreading of his ashes will be at the convenience of the family.
