Obituary of Mark Edward Dalton

With a heavy heart, full of cherished memories we are announcing the passing of Mark Edward Dalton, 68 of Glastonbury, CT. He passed away suddenly on February 13, 2025 surrounded by his beloved wife and his children.

Born on Christmas Day 1956 in Newark, NJ, to Edward and Jean (Ciccone) Dalton, Mark was a devoted son who made his parents extraordinarily proud through his unwavering dedication, remarkable achievements, and the loving care he showed them throughout their lives. He graduated from Glastonbury High School in 1974, and earned his Bachelor's degree at the University of Connecticut in 1978.  His work in the insurance industry started at Amica, living in Florida from 1978 through 1982, before returning to Connecticut for employment at Arthur A. Watson from 1982 to 1987.

Mark and Debra De Vries-Dalton met on a tennis court, fell in love, and were married in 1987.  Shortly after their marriage, Mark embarked on a new career in commercial real estate.  Upon earning his MBA from the University of Connecticut in 1989, Mark’s 25-year banking career included positions as Senior Relationship Managers at CBT and Fleet National Bank to an illustrious 14-year span at Bank of America, followed by successful tenures at Webster Bank and Berkshire Bank, where his expertise in commercial real estate lending earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. His intellect, steadfast work ethic, combined with his quick wit and genuine warmth, made him not just a trusted professional but a mentor to many. Upon his retirement in 2021, he left behind a legacy of excellence and integrity in his field.

A devoted family man, Mark's joy came from being a loving husband to his cherished wife Debra, with whom he built a beautiful family life filled with love and laughter. As a father, he poured his heart into supporting and nurturing his children - Laura Dalton, Christine Dalton (Kelsey), and Mark Dalton - celebrating their achievements, offering wise counsel through life's challenges, and filling their lives with unconditional love and support. His face would light up with delight when spending time with his beloved grandchildren, Theodore and Madeleine, for whom he was a most attentive and doting grandfather.

Along with many friends and family members, Mark leaves behind his parents, Edward and Jean (Ciccone) Dalton of Glastonbury, CT, his wife Debra of 37 years, his children: son, Mark Dalton, and daughters, Laura, Christine Kelsey and her husband, Micheal and their children: Theodore and Madeleine; his sister Andrea Lee and her husband Jay Lee and their children: Arden, Everett, Dalton and Wyatt.  He was predeceased by his brother John Dalton, whose memory he kept close to his heart.

Mark approached life with infectious enthusiasm and meticulous attention to detail, whether planning exciting adventures with his grandchildren or tackling home improvement projects. His passion for life was evident in everything he did, from his love of tennis and kayaking to peaceful days spent sailing and cycling. Summer vacations were particularly special, as Mark created magical moments with his family at lakeside retreats, where his playful spirit shone through in water activities, family meals and spirited family game nights. His thoughtful planning and genuine joy in these moments created memories his family will forever treasure.

Mark's legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched with his wisdom, warmth, and wonderful sense of humor. His determination to provide for his family and live life to its fullest (with a touch of sarcasm), created a blueprint for a life well-lived that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

A wake will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury.  The family welcomes all who wish to join in remembering Mark.
