Obituary of Ronald W. Lindlauf, Sr.

Ronald Wayne Lindlauf, 89, of Mystic, CT passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025. Ron was born on April 3, 1935 in Minot, North Dakota to Helen and Grant Lindlauf. While Ron only spent his first two decades in his home-state, his North Dakota roots were deeply ingrained and a part of his heritage he was extremely proud of throughout his 89 years. Ron attended North Dakota State University and after graduating with his engineering degree he was recruited by Pratt & Whitney to make the move to Connecticut. Once settled on the east coast and working at Pratt, he continued his studies and obtained a master’s degree in engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. While reaching professional heights, it was also at this time that he met his life-long love, Karen, and they married and moved to Glastonbury, a town that would mean so much to them throughout the rest of their lives. They would go on to have two children, Donna and Ron Jr., and enjoy a lifetime of memories on Peach Tree Road, Farmcliff Drive and at Orchard Hill Club.

Ron had a wide variety of interests throughout his life; he was an avid skier, sailor, golfer, tennis player and a self-taught painter. He enjoyed annual trips to his favorite place, Nantucket, where he would cherish a Downy Flake donut and a daily bike ride. He traveled throughout the world with Karen but taking the kids on trips “home” to North Dakota gave his family some of their favorite memories. He cherished spending time with his large family, hosting countless family holidays and being a constant presence at each and every one of his grandkids sporting events.

He leaves behind his daughter Donna (Chris) Kenny, son Ronald Jr. (MaryLynne) Lindlauf, grandchildren Maura (Kevin) Doyle, Will Lindlauf, Maire Lindlauf, Edward (Teddy) Lindlauf and great-grandchildren Tucker and Colt Doyle. Ron was predeceased by his wife Karen Lindlauf and grandson Grant Myles Kenny. He also leaves many cherished friends at Stoneridge Senior Living Center.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025 at 11:00 am at Stoneridge Senior Living Center, 186 Jerry Browne Drive, Mystic, CT. For online condolences, please visit www.mulryanfh.com.
