Obituary of Leona M. Real

Leona M. Real, 91, of Woodstock, CT, passed peacefully on January 26, 2022, at Westview Health Care Center in Dayville, CT.  Born in Shenandoah, PA, she was the daughter of John and Anastasia Lokitis. She was a long-time resident of Glastonbury, CT, and Woodstock, CT, with her late husband Raymond V. Real. They were married 52 years until his death 14 years ago. 

Leona is survived by her four children and their families, Janet and Forest Neurath of Woodstock, CT, Diane and William Rioux of Willington, CT, Susan and Maynard Rioux of Tolland, CT, and Raymond, Jr. and Lynda Real of Vernon, CT.  She also leaves 10 grandchildren, Chris, Scott, Tony, Jenny, Lisa, Justin, David, Kevin, Shayna and Lexi; 13 great grandchildren, and a sister and her husband, Marianne and Phillip Bosche, of Allentown, PA, and two nephews, Phillip and Michael.

She left the family bakery in Shenandoah, PA, to attend Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing in Allentown, PA. She was a nurse at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT, for over 30 years where she worked as a critical care and recovery room nurse followed by a visiting nurse career with the Visiting Nurses Association before retiring.

Leona loved spending time with her family at her cottage in Woodstock, CT. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, reading, puzzles and playing cards, as well as many outdoor activities including kayaking, swimming, campfires, bird watching and gardening. 

She will be laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery in Glastonbury, CT.  Arrangements entrusted to Mulryan Funeral Home. Private funeral and burial at the convenience of the family.
