Berj S. Tashjian of South Windsor, CT, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 25, 2021, at the age of 93.
Berj was born in Charleston, MA, on December 25th, 1928, to father Minas and mother Veronica Tashjian. He grew up in Watertown, MA, and graduated from Watertown High School. At the age of 18, he enlisted in the US Air Force. After leaving the Air Force he attended college, graduated from Northeastern University, and built a successful career as a Nationwide Insurance Agent.
With his wife Diana, they travelled the world together. He was always ready to tell a story about the places they visited and the meals they shared. His love of food inspired the Gillette Coffee Shop, in Hartford, CT. Later in life, he combined his love of food, with his love of golf. He helped coordinate golf tournaments, and happily assumed the role of Chef for charitable events, on behalf of Saint David’s Armenian Apostolic church, in Boca Raton, FL. Always the eternal optimist, Berj’s positive energy served as a beacon, for his family and the countless friends he cherished.
Berj was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Roxann Tashjian and his son Mark Tashjian. Berj’s memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of his loving family. Berj is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Diana (Gralicki) Tashjian, of South Windsor, CT; his children Sandra (Falvey) Mazzadra of South Windsor, CT, Craig Tashjian and his wife Nancy of Wellesley, MA, Matthew Tashjian and his wife Nikki of Woodstock, VT; his grandchildren, Adam Mazzadra and his wife Diane, Sarah Mazzadra-Lane and her husband Michael, Scott Tashjian, Blake Tashjian, and Maria Tashjian; and two great-grandsons, Brendt and Aaden Mazzadra.
