Mrs. Silvergleid
I really enjoyed playing golf with Paul over the last 10 years. I was part of the "beaters" who played Tuesday and Thursday mornings and when I was paired to play with Paul I knew I was going to have a great day at Wethersfield, no matter how I played. An extremely funny and engaging man, we were very impressed with his game and the energy he showed as the oldest "beater" in the group. I'll always remember one day, as his partner, I made a good putt that gave us winnings of $5 on the last hole and Paul said "is it ok to want to kiss another man?"
I remember Paul introducing my wife and I to you when we met at the Club and I could see the sparkle in Paul's eyes when he very proudly introduced you. It made quite an impression on us and I can only hope I show the same love and honor to Martha when introducing her. That was really special.
We are very sorry for your loss, a loss I share with you as I think about not being able to play with Paul again. Due to recent surgery I won't be able to attend the services and extend our sympathy. Wish I could.
By the way, I never did get that kiss for the $5 I made him.
With love, Steve Kirsche

Al DeGemmis posted a condolence

The entire DeGemmis family is so sorry to hear of Paul's passing. The town of Glastonbury has lost a true stalwart both as a town leader and a conscientious citizen. And his family has lost a great husband and father/grandfather. In terms of memories, we all remember Paul's outstanding sense of humor. One could not be around Paul for more than five minutes without the gift of one of his many stories or jokes, bringing laughter to any gathering in quick order. And on a more serious note, the DeGemmis family will always remember the long-lasting friendship of Paul and Lucy with Al and Helen D, and the loving care which Paul and Lucy offered to Al and Helen during their final years. Paul gave to so many and for so many decades. His friendship was one to treasure. While we mourn his passing, we can also carry so many beautiful memories of him with us. Our sympathy and prayers are with Lucy and the Silvergleid family.
