He was predeceased by his twin children, Albert and Danielle, paternal grandparents Edward and Doris Dondero and his maternal grandparents Antony and Jacqueline Russak.

Joe was co-owner of Dondero Orchards with his grandfather Rugged when he graduated Glastonbury High School in 1987. He was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys, Yankees and NASCAR fan. He enjoyed vacationing with his family, snowmobiling in the winters, entertaining all of his friends and hosting Bunga Cauda nights. He was president of FFA in high school and a life member of the Matson Hill Community Club.
