Obituary of Sandra M. Vallieres

Sandra M. Vallieres, of Old Saybrook, CT, born on July 27, 1948, in Norwalk, CT, graduating class of 1966, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving and devoted family at the age of 72, only 4 days before her birthday, keeping her forever young.

Sandy leaves behind her husband, Laurence Vallieres, best-friend and soul mate of 52 years. Sandy worked beside Larry for 40 years building a successful electrical contracting company, State-Wide Electric in Glastonbury, CT, where they raised their 4 children, James and his wife Kim of West Hartford, John and his wife Kelli of East Haddam, Terry and her husband Bryan Berube of Manchester, and Denise and her husband Bill Webster of Glastonbury. Between them they gave Sandy a house full of the love and laughter of 9 grandchildren, Ryan, Matthew and Kristina Vallieres, Kyle Vallieres and fiancé Kelsey, Eric Vallieres and wife Crystal, Jake and Kayla Berube, Cody and Christopher Webster. Sandy also leaves behind her three siblings, Karen Daon of SC, Mary Leonard and her husband, Jon of TX, James Miller and his wife Sandy of FL, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents James and Theresa Miller of Norwalk, CT. Sandy leaves a legacy of love and compassion, opening her heart and home to family and friends.

She is best remembered by her husband Larry for her unwavering devotion and love for him and the family. The most wonderful thing we have done for each other was to share our life together as a unit of one. Sandy will always be in my heart and beside me no matter where I am. I will truly miss her love, guidance, smile, and friendship that we shared. These words I share can’t even come close to expressing how much I love her. Our puppy Bella will be with me for support and a cherished reminder of the love we all shared.

Her oldest son Jim will always remember his time in Martha Vineyard as a kid, their shared love of the beach, and building the Vineyard house on the water. Then with his family, the fun times playing cards, collecting rocks at the beach in Old Saybrook, and playing hockey in the basement.

John, Kelli, and family will always treasure their many vacations together in North Beach walking the beach, laughing and talking, collecting shells, napping on the porch, and just being together soaking up the sun to bottle it for that gray, cold day in February.

Terry and her family will always remember her positive attitude in all things life brought her way no matter how hard.  Kayla will always remember the games of Trash they would play together.  Jake will always remember the unique conversations that only they would have.  They will always miss the comfort from just hearing her voice, the support and effort she made to come to every game, and the way she lip read when someone was talking.  Gram was an unforgettable blessing brought upon this world and now she will be the same blessing, from above, until we all come together again.

Denise and family will remember her most by her grace, generosity, honesty and devoted love. We will always remember her at the beach, reading a book, listening to music and playing cards with family. Some of the best memories were spent at Martha’s Vineyard during the summers. Sandy was the proud owner of the National Champion horse, Boston Mac.

Sandy was an incredibly strong woman who fiercely loved her family. She lived her life with grace, determination, and passion. She was the center of our large and sometimes crazy family and will be greatly missed. She asked that we all live a beautiful life. We will honor her final request and live up to her beautiful example.
