Cecilia Valerie (Young) Borland (affectionately known as Jimmy), 83, of Glastonbury, wife of the late William S. Borland, died Friday October 4, 2019. She was born February 2, 1936 in Nova Scotia, Canada, daughter of the late Jeremiah and Victoria (Timmons) Young. When she first moved to the United States from Canada, she moved to Long Island and worked as a nanny. That is where she met the man of her dreams and was very happily married to him for just over 50 years. Her greatest joy in life was being his wife! She worked for 21 years as a Nursing Assistant in Smithtown, Long Island. After Bill’s retirement in 1995, they moved to Glastonbury where the grandkids were! She enjoyed peaceful visits at the Glastonbury Ferry with her husband Bill, and after his passing, comforting visits at the ferry on “Pop’s bench”. Jimmy loved going to the Glastonbury Senior Center, going on trips with the group, listening to ukulele music and helping with the Sharing Tree. She made delicious homemade bread, shepard’s pie and her grandkid’s favorite chicken pot pie. No one made better stuffing! She was very proud to become an American citizen just four years ago! Jimmy is survived by her daughter Laura Longo and her husband William of Glastonbury, a son Scott Borland of Rocky Point, NY, 4 grandchildren, Ashley Ann Longo and her fiancé Joseph Lindsey, Anthony P. Longo, Cassidy E. Longo, Jacob W, Borland , 4 brothers, Jeremiah, Douglas, Ralph, Ronald and 2 sisters Judith and Iris. She was predeceased by a sister Marie.
