Obituary of Mary Bertolini Griffin

Mary Bertolini Griffin, 49, of Glastonbury, wife of Neil J. Griffin, Jr., passed away peacefully Saturday, February 25, 2017, surrounded by family and a wealth of love. Daughter of Maryjane (Carter) Bertolini of Old Lyme and the late Mario Bertolini, she was born in New Haven and grew up in Guilford, until she made Glastonbury her home. In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her daughter Chloë Rose Griffin, her brothers and sisters and their spouses: John and Elizabeth Bertolini of NJ, Maura (Bertolini) Kufs of NY, Jennifer (Bertolini) Hallowell and Shawn Hallowell of Old Saybrook and Peter and Sarah Bertolini of Guilford. Mary also had twelve cherished nieces and nephews: Paul and Matthew Bertolini, Anna Kufs, Delilah and Cassidy Hallowell, Evelyn Bertolini, Harry and Jake Conway, Owen and Landon Griffin and Pheobe and Henry Griffin. After graduating from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, she worked at Blakeslee Prestress, Inc. for seventeen years until she left her position as Human Resource Manager to be a full-time mother. Among other interests, Mary was an exceptional and creative cook and loved to prepare meals for family and friends. She will always be remembered for her distinctive, elegant style and most importantly, for her generosity and grace. Mary faced her illness with courage and dignity, just as she carried herself throughout her life. Even when she was at her weakest, she still took care of those she loved most, especially her beloved daughter. To Mary, family was everything. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held Saturday, March 4 at 11am at the Congregational Church of South Glastonbury. Friends and Family may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury on Friday, March 3 from 4-7pm.
