Obituary of Robert Joseph Fagnoni

Angels came to take Robert Joseph Fagnoni (Figgy) home on Sunday, January 29, 2017. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was born May 17, 1931 to Frank and Mae (Varni) Fagnoni and predeceased by his son Andrew. Bob was married to Marilyn, the love of his life for 52 years. He graduated from Glastonbury High School in 1949 and then attended University of Connecticut and graduated in 1959. Bob was a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force with the 103rd Supply Squadron. He also served in the Korean War with the 452nd Bombardment Wing. He was a member of Local 78 Lathers and the Carpenter Union for forty years. He was also an honored member of the Matson Hill Community Club, where he maintained a life membership, and the Property Owners Club. Bob was an avid fisherman, hunter, downhill skier and scuba diver. One of his lifelong dreams was to travel, which he did throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. There were many memorable trips Bob took with his family, especially across the United States in the “mystery machine” in 1981. Bob was also a huge sports fan and especially loved the New York Yankees, Giants and the UCONN Women’s Basketball Team. Bob leaves behind his cherished wife Marilyn and their three sons Mark and Chris Fagnoni and Paul Rudy, Jr. He is also survived by his grandchildren Aleksandar, Morgan, Ben and Julie and of course his “poochie” Molly, plus several nieces and nephews. He also leaves many fond and unforgettable memories of his lifelong friends, such as the weekly meetings at the "Fat Belly Club" on New London Turnpike. His roots will be forever on the hill of South Glastonbury. A mass of Christian Burial will be held to celebrate his life on Saturday, February 4th at 10am in Saint Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Rd., South Glastonbury. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's memory can be made to Gerda's Animal Aid, P.O. Box 1352, West Townshend, VT 05359. For online condolences please visit mulryanfh.com.
