Obituary of Bruce H. Anderson

Bruce H. Anderson, 70, of Glastonbury, husband of Dorothy (Dow) Anderson, died Friday, October 7, 2016, due to injuries suffered in an automobile accident. He had lived in Glastonbury for the past 31 years. Besides his wife, Bruce is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Anderson and Aleksandra (Ola) Rucz, of Portland and their two children, Myles and Leah, who were the apples of Bruce’s eye; a daughter, Rachel Anderson of Portland; two brothers and their wives, Arvid and Marianne Anderson of Shelton, James and Carmen Anderson of Boynton Beach, FL, a sister and her husband, Jeani and Wayne Gill of Lincoln, NE; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and supportive friends. He was predeceased by his brother Mark Anderson and parents A. Jean (Salmon) and Elmer Anderson of New Britain. Bruce grew up in New Britain and Plainville and spent many years in trucking management. He was an avid UConn basketball fan, a lifelong New York Yankees and New York Giants fan, and he loved playing golf. Among his favorite places to travel were eastern Long Island and Vermont. The holidays were a special time for him to gather with family, especially at his cousins’ festive parties. Bruce was proud of his four years in the Air Force and was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant. A memorial service will held be Saturday Oct. 22 at 11am in the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. Military honors will be rendered following the service. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 to 11 the morning of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Gary Sinese Foundation.
