Obituary of Jacquelyn Fetherston

Jacquelyn (Ferguson) Fetherston, age 78, of Glastonbury passed away Thursday, October 7, 2010 after a long illness. She was born in Pittsfield, MA. on February 28, 1932, the daughter of the late Rachael (Bedard) Ferguson and John Ferguson. She was the wife of William C. Fetherston for over 53 years. Jacquelyn attended schools in Pittsfield and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1949. She received her B.S. degree in Education from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams, MA. in 1953. She started her teaching career that year in Springfield, MA. and later taught in Oak Creek, WI. She taught Kindergarten, First Grade and Second Grade in the Manchester, CT. school system for 34 years, retiring in 1991. She greatly enjoyed recognizing her former students as adults when she hadn't seen them since they were young children. She had resided in the Manchester/Glastonbury area for over 50 years and also had a winter home in Sanibel, FL. She loved being a Mother and Grandmother. She is survived by her husband William and their children, Therese Bore' and her husband, Patrick, and their children, Alexandre and Caroline of Doylestown, PA. Leslie Tuttle and her husband Chip and their children, Libby, Annie and William of Salem, MA. and Daniel Fetherston of Brooklyn, N.Y. She is also survived by her brother, John Ferguson and his wife, Teen of Cape Coral, FL., several nieces and a nephew and her longtime friend, Pauline Strain of Amherst, MA. She greatly enjoyed traveling and cruising and took many memorable trips. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed her several bridge groups. She also enjoyed gardening and home decorating. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday Oct. 13, at 10am in St. Paul Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Doctor's Without Borders, P.O.
